Since the post-World War decolonization of the island of Ceylon, the stateless nation of Eelam Tamils, subjected to systematic discrimination, has struggled to regain its pre-colonial freedom, dignity, and equality as an ancient civilization sharing the island with other ethnicities. This struggle has been ongoing for decades.
Having endured years of traumatizing physical and political violence in the occupied homeland, punctuated by pogroms and mass killings, as a diaspora, we continue to encounter threats to our lives simply by being a part of an oppressed people with a distinct ethnolinguistic identity.
The intent and systematic acts of the protracted genocide unleashed on the nation of Eelam Tamils forced over a million of them to flee their homeland, seeking asylum elsewhere.
At present, the Eelam Tamil diaspora has emerged as a powerful source of
strength—financially, diplomatically, and in advocating for the rights of Tamils.
Through these efforts, it has maintained vital relationships with key international stakeholders to secure freedom, justice, and peace.
While the Eelam Tamil diaspora and those in the homeland share a common goal of seeking freedom, justice, and peace, there is an indispensable need to unify globally with one consolidated voice to represent collective suffering effectively in the international arena.
The absence of a strong, unified voice for the global Tamil community is felt strongly today's political and economic crises.
This organization seeks to unite Eelam Tamils worldwide and represent their interests on the international stage. It advocates for their rights and confronts all forms of discrimination, whether social, cultural, economic, or political.
It will promote cultural and social welfare within Eelam Tamil communities and
accelerate initiatives to empower them in all aspects of life.
It is common knowledge that many diaspora organizations are already actively addressing issues related to the Eelam Tamil struggle. This newly formed organization will stand in solidarity with and support these ongoing efforts, helping to improve the lives of the people in Tamil Eelam and across the diaspora.
To unify and empower the Eelam Tamils worldwide, promoting solidarity across the diaspora and homeland.
Preserve our rich cultural heritage through collaborative efforts, advance social and cultural welfare, and combat all forms of discrimination, whether through social, economic, or political methods.
Organize and support initiatives that enhance our collective strength and promote empowerment, equality, and justice for Tamils worldwide.
We aim to empower the homeland and diaspora Eelam Tamils, while promoting our social, economic, cultural, and political aspirations. We strive to promote and preserve our heritage and advocate for a future where every Tamil enjoys dignity, equality, and justice.
